3sun Inspection Services, a division of 3sun Group which is a specialist provider of products and services to the energy industry, has been shortlisted for the East of England Energy Group’s (EEEGR) Energy Innovation Awards.
The recently launched division is being recognised for its handheld tagging system which was developed in collaboration with Scottish & Southern Energy. It is an electronic 3D visually based inspection system for managing legislative compliance on wind turbines.
Graham Hacon, managing director at 3sun Group, said: “The system was designed to provide clients with instant detailed reports regarding their equipment. It is a tool which promotes safety on our clients’ wind turbines by automatically flagging up defects and the next inspection dates to ensure equipment remains safe and within certification.
“A simple traffic light system provides instant visualisation of system status, allowing detailed risk assessments and workpacks to be developed to rectify faults from the safety of any onshore location. This is in turn presented on a web-based platform allowing clients to view asset condition from anywhere in the world and at any time.
“It has proved extremely successful to date through preventing down-time and incidents for our clients as a result of its proactive fault finding and inspection planning. We are very proud that our innovation is being recognised by EEEGR.”
3sun Inspection Services is one of eight companies to make the shortlist and will battle it out in front of a panel of judges and a live audience to be named one of three winners. The Awards Dinner will take place on the 29th of February in the Holiday Inn in Norwich.
3sun Inspection Services offers a full range of equipment inspection and testing services to the renewables sector at present, with planned expansion into oil and gas in the near future.
